White is the new white pt3 (Slowly but steady)

The progress is finally showing and boy, I´m in love again with this hobby.

I dont know what to say that you cant see on the pictures, I added allot of betails to this awesome kit, evcn some cables and I've been loving every second of this custom build.

the VOB set requitres tons of masking and painting, so the progress there is on hold for the moment, I have been concentrating on finishing the extra details on the White Glint.

and here is where we are right now, almost at the middle of the build; i still have to finish the customization and do the main paint on the arms and thrusters, then hand paint the little details all over the kit, panel lines, clear coat, waterslides, flat coat, weathering and top flat coat, so, it's safe to say that there's still allot of work to be done.

But so far, I´m loving how this kit is turning out, I hope you guys like it.

White is the new white pt2

Slowly but steady the white glint is taking shape:

As you can see I've been adding pla-plate details to the model, I'm also waiting for some detailing parts and decals.

I decided to change the hands for a more aggressive looking hands

I already painted all the black parts, in a few of them some details will be painted.

I also want to add a one or two millimeters to the ankles, not sure how I´m gonna do it.

So far I´ve been enjoying this build allot, I was inspired to do this kind of details by this white glint by DC23, and I'm paying some kind of tribute to that amazing work by borrowing some ideas from it, i hope at the end, my white glint will look half as good as that one.

White is the new white

On the last month I did a little work on the VF-0D it´s taking shape, but I'm still not convinced, so I put it aside (again) and started on a pet project, another kit that I have wanted to build since I started on this, the Armored Core White Glint.
I stared with the boring parts, the weapons, and then the booster, the weapons were fast and boring, again just a couple of pieces sandwiched together. The booster was fun to build, a nice surprise because I expected something repetitive and boring, but, it was fun, as always with this old kits by kotobukiya the color separation is poor, and the fit is not the best, so glue, sand and paint is a must.

this thing will need allot of masking to allow a a decent paint job, but looks ok. This kit comes molded in a pearl white and a metallic black, it looks nice on the runners but when you put the thing together it looks sparkly, so those colors have to go.

then after some work on the booster I quickly did the white glint, it is awesome, not as impressive as the alicia, but it has allot of eye candy, I did this to fit the pieces and to see if it needs some modifications, and, it does, first, I don't like the torso, it's too small, because of that the arms look too big, another thing is the neck, it's too short, that and, its to flat, it needs panels, intakes rivets and stuff.

the kit comes with 3 abdomen pieces, two short length black pieces like the one above and one medium white, so I moded the black parts and made them one long black piece by removing the base and gluing both pieces together

This is how it looks now

For the neck I just glued a 1mm piece under the piece, so it will not go all the way down

This is how it looks with the new abdomen and higher neck, I think it looks better

After that I've been doing stuff like gluing and sanding and some other little details, I wanted to do a post of this because it might take a while to complete this guy, but so far, it´s looking good!

On the other hand I´m super exited about a couple of kits that will come next year, for me at least this year was a little disappointing, the only tw kits that got me exited were the Wave Logicoma and theRG Astray Red Frame but this two kits got me kumping because I never expected to see them in model form, and they are from one of my favorite series Gargantia on the verdurous planet. I already preordered both, and I hope they do well to see more of this fantastic anime on the future.

1/48 Chamber by Max Factory (January release)

1/48 Striker by Max Factory (March release)

Finally, I have found allot of amazing customs for armored core lately, like this custom four legged Project Magnus love the colors, an outstanding custom.

1/144 Real Grade Astray Red Frame by bandai

So yeah... this happened...

A few years back when I titled this blog I never thought on doing a Gundam, not because I hate them or anything like that, just because there are a gazilion internet sites featuring Gundam Kits and most of them, with better skills than mine, but when I saw the announcement for the RG Red Frame I couldn't help to get exited by it, and, it has no miniskirt, no heels, no hair, it doesn't have the same colors as the other gundams, and the best part, it has a Sword!

For a kit this size, is a highly detailed kit, it amazed me how sharp some details are, on par with Kotobukiya but still not on the level of Hasegawa.
It was very fun to put together, all the pieces fit , sometimes some of them are a little loose, but that's easily fixed with a little superglue or paint to thicken the connection points and that's it, some pieces are extremely fragile due to it's size, but that's understandable but bandai has some extra points because they thought about this and made most of the pieces on a very soft plastic that will accept some bending.

On the articulation it has never been a big selling point for me, but this kit has amazing movement, it can do almost every pose you can imagine, on the negative side, the thigh articulation cant hold the weight very well, I needed to put some masking tape on the feet to maintain the wide stance without the legs spreading even more, I have to note that this might be a rare problem, but, it's a problem on mine.

The biggest problem for me with this kit is the fact that this comes with stickers, and even if bandai is great on doing those, the edges are very visible, bandai should include waterslides or dry transfers with this kit, this is supposed to be an RG or Real Grade, the hole point of this series is to make "the real thing" and the edges of the stickers take you out, also some of those stickers are too big, so you'll have to trim the excess sticker in order to make the fit properly, also stickers make it impossible to weather the kit once they´re applied, the weathering pigments tend to stick on the edges making it look like a dirty toy, instead of a battle used robot.

The sword is great, it comes plated with the exception of the gold parts that comes in an ugly yellowish color, so I painted and detailed those, the rest of the kit is awesome, go buy it, you'll thank me later.

Usually I don't like the kits from bandai, they are more toys than models, and make great compromises in order to add some gimmicks, but this is an excellent rendition of both, it makes almost no visual compromises in order to make RG Red Frame highly posable, this is a kit that would get a high score as a scale model and as an action figure, very few small and easy to fix problems, the biggest one for me, the ugly looking stickers.
8.5/10

Who's the king of red robots?
My money is on Logicoma.

PS I have had for almost a year the MG Red Frame on my backlog, we'll se how they compare and which one is better in the future.
